Happy Body Tea

This is perhaps the most important natural remedy I have ever stumbled upon and played with, I have been using this now for over 3 years and I have not caught a cold, the flu or suffered from any major ‘virus’ since I began drinking it daily. Unremarkable to some perhaps but since I grew up with a yearly bout of bronchitis that would last for most of the winter months, that alone is a huge win.  I have researched all the ingredients and each one has its own unique beneficial qualities that when combined serve to reduce inflammation, boost immunity, reduce muscle spasms and easy stomach upset from an medications you may be taking to manage pain.  It is easy to make, easy to store, and tastes (to me) like heaven.  My body LOVES this blend… I have occasionally stopped taking it at different times of the year (weather definitely has an impact on my own pain level) and I am absolutely positive now that when I don’t take it, my health begins to wane.  I hope it serves you as well as it has served me over the years.

PS. It is perfectly safe for children if you can get them to drink it ;)

Tea Concentrate:

10 quarter inch thick slice of Ginger Root
10 quarter inch thick slices of Tumeric Root or 1-2 Tbs of powdered Tumeric
(*note* it is a good idea to where gloves when dealing with Tumeric so that your hands don’t get stained)
1 Cinnamon stick

Daily Tea:

1 Tsp Unpasteurized Honey
¼ - ½ Lemon
1 clove of Garlic (crushed and shopped fine)
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper (optional)

To prep tea concentrate…

Put cut up root in a small pot and fill with fresh water, bring to a boil then reduce and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Remove from heat, insert cinnamon stick and allow to cool to room temperature naturally (please do not refrigerate to speed up process).  Once cooled, remove cinnamon stick and strain then you can store the mixture in a glass bottle and refrigerate. It will keep for up to 3 days.

To prep daily tea…

Pour enough tea concentrate into a large coffee mug to fill it half way, top up with boiling water.  This should present you with a nice tepid tea, which can then be enhanced with honey, lemon juice, and crushed garlic. Again the Cayenne pepper is optional but if you use it, it goes in last.  It is important that the tea not be boiling hot when you add the final 3-4 ingredients as the heat will diminish the healing properties of those ingredients.

Drink 2 a day at the onset of a cold, 3-4 a day during cold or flu
Drink 2-4 a day for bad pain days due to inflammation/nerve related issues
Drink 2-4 a day for weight management (reduce honey used but do not remove altogether)
Drink 1-2 a day for daily maintenance all year through.

Substitutions (because not every country has access to lemons) – if you live in the Philippines you can use the juice of 1 whole Calamansi, or in Central America, you can use ½ a lime.

I understand that the garlic sounds scary but for whatever reason this is a unique flavor combination that has many people coming back for more. It real is as yummy as it is good for your body.

Enjoy and happy healing.
